Accountable to the Smart Start of Henderson County Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides professional leadership of Partnership activities through effective strategic planning and collaboration within the community to address the needs of children, financial oversight of all funding, and supervision of staff. The Executive Director works at the direction of the Board to achieve the Partnership's mission and goals while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
Sonia Gironda has been the Executive Director at Smart Start of Henderson County since 2008 and began her work with Smart Start as a Program Coordinator in 2006. Sonia has a Masters Degree in Mental Health and Regabilitative Counseling. Beyond her work at Smart Start, Sonia is a committed advocate for children and families of this community.
The Program Coordinator works with the Board of Directors, Partnership staff and direct service providers to ensure high quality, effective implementation of Partnership activities and to align activities with the goals and mission of the Partnership. The Program Coordinator is responsible for supervising the data collection and evaluation activities related to agency activity outcomes, collecting information and developing new programs at the request of the Board of Directors, developing resources for programs to include grant writing and interagency collaboration, providing technical assistance to direct service providers, and monitoring the services provided with Partnership funds.
Alicia Hutchison is Smart Start of Henderson County’s Program Coordinator. She is a graduate of Queens University of Charlotte and she has been with the organization since October 2011.
The Outreach Coordinator helps to ensure that Smart Start of Henderson County mission and services are known throughout Henderson County by serving on community boards, representing Smart Start of Henderson County in community meetings, maintaining collaborative relationships with other community agencies, coordinating the distribution of Smart Start outreach campaigns, making presentations to the Board, funding agencies and community groups as requested, and keeping the Board of Directors and policymakers informed of the needs of children and families in Henderson County. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for planning Smart Start awareness and fundraising events and for developing resources for outreach efforts to include grant writing and cultivating collaborative relationships in the community.
Erica Woodall has been the Outreach Coordinator for Smart Start of Henderson County since March, 2013. She has a Master of Public Health Degree from the University of Washington and experience in public health research, nonprofit program coordination and community outreach.
The Program Specialist works with Smart Start of Henderson County staff and direct service providers to ensure high quality, effective implementation of programs to align early literacy activities with the goals and mission of the organization. These programs include Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Reach Out and Read and Ready4k!. The Program Specialist coordinates child care scholarship services and family engagement work.
Abby Sepanski has beeen the Program Specialist since September, 2016.
